Workshop on “Capacity Building Workshop on the Use of AI Tools in Office Management at AUST”

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a specialized training workshop titled “Capacity Building Workshop on the Use of AI Tools in Office Management at AUST.”

The two-hour workshop was held on Tuesday, August 04, 2026, from 02:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m. at the School of Business Computer Lab, Level-6, Block-C, AUST. The program was specifically designed for administrative staff, including Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO), Upper Division Assistants (UDA) and Lower Division Assistants (LDA) from various departments and offices of the University.

The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Prof. Dr. Mazharul Islam, Director, IQAC, AUST, who emphasized the importance of  modern digital tools into the University’s day-to-day office operations. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, AUST. Dr. Hossain conducted live, step-by-step demonstrations on how administrative staff can use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including ChatGPT and DeepSeek, to make routine office tasks more efficient, accurate, and productive.

During the hands-on session, participants learned how to use AI tools for:

  • Drafting and editing official correspondence: Preparing and polishing letters, emails, notes, and formal communications.
  • Translating official documents: Converting office circulars, notices, and other documents between English and Bangla.
  • Preparing meeting minutes: Transforming rough handwritten or typed notes into structured official minutes.
  • Managing office data: Preparing sample budget sheets, templates, statistical tables, and other administrative documents.
  • Automating routine tasks: Reducing time spent on repetitive administrative and documentation work.

The workshop provided participants with practical, hands-on experience in applying AI tools to their regular administrative responsibilities. The session also highlighted the importance of using AI responsibly and effectively to improve accuracy, efficiency, and the quality of office services. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, who appreciated the active participation of the attendees and encouraged them to apply the newly acquired AI skills in their daily office activities to enhance productivity and service quality across the University.
