Workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (Part-II)

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) successfully organized the second part of the workshop titled “Outcome-Based Education (OBE)” on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Distance Learning Theatre, Level 8, Block C, AUST. The workshop was arranged to help newly appointed faculty members improve their understanding of the concepts and practical implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE).

The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director of IQAC, AUST. In his inaugural remarks, he warmly welcomed the newly recruited faculty members and delivered a comprehensive presentation on course file preparation and management, emphasizing the importance of maintaining systematic and well-documented course files as an essential component of quality assurance practices. He further elaborated on the role of course files in facilitating effective teaching, assessment, continuous improvement, and accreditation processes.

Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director of IQAC, AUST, conducted an extensive and interactive session on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Constructive Alignment within the OBE framework. He explained the conceptual foundations and practical applications of CQI, emphasizing its importance in ensuring the continuous enhancement of academic programs and learning outcomes. Furthermore, he elaborated on the principles of constructive alignment, demonstrating how intended learning outcomes, teaching-learning activities, and assessment strategies should be systematically aligned to achieve the desired educational objectives. Through practical examples and institutional perspectives, he provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the effective implementation of these concepts.

Dr. Naznin Sultana Chaity, Additional Director of IQAC, AUST, also delivered a detailed presentation focusing on teaching, learning, and assessment practices in Outcome-Based Education. She discussed various pedagogical approaches, learner-centered teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies that facilitate the achievement of intended learning outcomes.

As part of the workshop activities, participants actively engaged in a series of practical exercises designed to facilitate the effective application of OBE concepts and methodologies. Following the completion of these activities, the facilitators thoroughly reviewed the participants’ work and provided constructive feedback to reinforce their understanding of the key principles and practices of Outcome-Based Education.

The workshop concluded with an interactive discourse session, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed. The program substantially enhanced the participants’ theoretical comprehension and practical acumen regarding the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework at AUST.
