Discussion session with Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) members
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a discussion session with the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) members on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Distance Learning Theatre, Level 8, Block C, AUST.
The session was inaugurated with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Mazharul Islam, Director, IQAC, AUST. In his opening remarks, he welcomed the participating faculty members and introduced the OBE Course Manager (OCM) Portal, a digital platform developed to support the effective implementation, monitoring, and documentation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices.
The session focused on several important aspects of OBE implementation, course documentation, BAETE accreditation readiness, and digital management of academic and accreditation-related evidence. The participants discussed the proposed Unified Course Outline (CO) Template for engineering departments to ensure consistency in course documentation and alignment with OBE requirements. The incorporation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the course outline in accordance with the updated UGC template was also discussed. It was further proposed that Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) be incorporated into the course outline vetting form to strengthen alignment and traceability between course-level and program-level outcomes.
The participants also discussed preparations for the BAETE Accreditation Manual, Version 3.0. Engineering departments were advised to review their current accreditation status, initiate necessary preparations for Version 3.0 requirements, and maintain updated and systematically organized accreditation evidence to ensure continuous accreditation readiness.
A significant part of the session focused on the integration of cloud-based course folders with the OBE Course Manager. Dr. Tareq, Department of Mechanical Engineering, demonstrated a cloud-drive linking mechanism for connecting course folders with the OCM. The participants discussed the electronic management of course-related documents, assessment evidence, and answer scripts. Electronic submission and management of answer scripts were agreed upon, subject to appropriate institutional procedures and requirements.
The proposed integration of the OBE Course Manager with the existing Course-File Management System, particularly its possible implementation in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), was also discussed. The demonstration highlighted the potential of a centralized digital platform for improving the organization, accessibility, monitoring, and preservation of academic and accreditation-related evidence.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Mazharul Islam further explained the importance of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and their alignment with Program Outcomes (POs) and the Knowledge Profile. He demonstrated how the OBE Course Manager can systematically organize essential course-related information and support OBE implementation and continuous quality improvement.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Mazharul Islam, who expressed his appreciation to the participating PSAC members for their active participation and valuable contributions. The discussion session contributed to strengthening OBE practices, digital academic documentation, and continuous preparedness for BAETE accreditation at AUST.
