Seminar on “Sustainability Awareness and Best Practices for Laboratory Staff at AUST”
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) successfully organized a seminar titled “Sustainability Awareness and Best Practices for Laboratory Staff at AUST” on Monday, August 03, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The seminar was held at the MPE Drawing Lab, Room No. 8C03, Level 8, Block C, AUST. The program was organized for all laboratory staff of AUST.

The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Prof. Dr. Mazharul Islam, Director, IQAC, AUST. In his inaugural remarks, he warmly welcomed all the laboratory staff and emphasized the importance of developing sustainable practices and maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible laboratory environment.
Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, AUST, delivered a detailed presentation on “Sustainability Awareness and Best Practices for Laboratories”. His presentation highlighted the importance of sustainable laboratory operations, responsible resource utilization, waste management, energy efficiency, and the adoption of environmentally friendly practices in laboratory activities. Following this, Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Librarian, AUST, delivered a session on “Sustainability Awareness and Fire Safety Systems in Laboratories.” He discussed essential fire safety measures, emergency preparedness, safe handling of laboratory equipment and materials, and the importance of maintaining a safe working environment for laboratory personnel.

The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion session, during which participants actively shared their views, experiences, and queries regarding sustainability and laboratory safety practices. The program ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, AUST. The seminar provided an important platform for enhancing awareness among laboratory staff regarding sustainability, safety, and responsible laboratory practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of the university’s quality assurance and sustainable development initiatives.
