Seminar on “BAC Accreditation Journey”

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) successfully organized a comprehensive and highly informative discussion session titled “BAC Accreditation Journey”. The event was designed to enhance awareness and build institutional capacity among faculty members regarding the accreditation process of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).

The session was held on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. through the official Zoom platform of AUST. It was arranged primarily for the faculty members of the School of Business, with the aim of providing them with a clear understanding of accreditation standards, procedures, and best practices necessary for achieving institutional excellence.

The program was skillfully moderated by Dr. Naznin Sultana Chaity, Additional Director of IQAC and Associate Professor, School of Business. With her thoughtful coordination and engaging moderation, the session maintained a structured flow while fostering an interactive and participatory environment. Her efforts ensured that the objectives of the session were effectively communicated and achieved.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Mr. Bidduth Kanti Nath, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Premier University, Chittagong. As an experienced academic with practical involvement in accreditation processes, Mr. Nath shared in-depth knowledge and valuable insights into the BAC accreditation framework. His presentation covered key aspects such as the significance of accreditation in higher education, eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, self-assessment procedures, and external peer review mechanisms.

Furthermore, he elaborated on the step-by-step journey of achieving accreditation, highlighting common challenges faced by institutions and suggesting practical strategies to overcome them. He also emphasized the importance of continuous quality improvement, stakeholder engagement, and maintaining academic standards to ensure long-term institutional development. His presentation was enriched with real-life examples and case-based discussions, which made the session both engaging and highly relevant for the participants.

During the session, Prof. Dr. Parul Akhter, Head of the School of Business, raised several pertinent questions regarding the preparation process for BAC accreditation, including documentation standards, curriculum alignment, and faculty readiness. Her queries sparked meaningful discussions that addressed key concerns of academic departments.

Similarly, Prof. Dr. S.M. Shafiul Alam, Dean of the School of Business, actively participated in the session by seeking clarification on institutional preparedness, compliance with accreditation standards, and the role of leadership in ensuring quality assurance. His contributions added depth to the discussion and provided further clarity on strategic planning for accreditation.

After that, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST, delivered an insightful address on the importance of BAC accreditation. In his remarks, he emphasized the critical role of accreditation in ensuring quality education, institutional accountability, and global recognition. He highlighted how BAC accreditation serves as a benchmark for maintaining academic standards and continuous quality improvement. He also encouraged faculty members to actively engage in the accreditation process and work collaboratively to meet the required criteria and standards.

The presentation was followed by a lively and interactive question-and-answer session, where faculty members actively engaged with the speaker. Participants raised a variety of questions related to accreditation timelines, evaluation criteria, evidence-based reporting, and best practices for successful submission. Mr. Nath responded to each query with clarity and precision, making the session highly interactive and informative.

The overall session proved to be extremely beneficial for the participants, as it not only enhanced their understanding of the BAC accreditation process but also strengthened their confidence in undertaking the necessary steps toward achieving accreditation. It served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and institutional learning.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Naznin Sultana Chaity expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Bidduth Kanti Nath for his generous contribution, insightful presentation, and valuable time.
