Seminar on “Advancing STEM Capacity: Quality Teaching and ICT-Enabled Learning.”

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) successfully organized a seminar titled “Advancing STEM Capacity: Quality Teaching and ICT-Enabled Learning” at the VC Seminar Room, Level-4, Block-D, AUST. The seminar was held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2026 and aimed to promote excellence in STEM education through innovative teaching practices and the effective use of information and communication technology (ICT).

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Golam Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and President, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, AUST, Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque, Vice-Chancellor, AUST and Prof. Dr. M. Kaykobad, Distinguished Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BRAC University. Deans of the Faculties, Heads of the Departments/Schools, Directors, PSAC members, faculty members and students were also present.

The program began with an ice-breaking session conducted by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, AUST. The formal session commenced with a welcome address delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST, who introduced the keynote speaker and highlighted the significance of the seminar in strengthening academic quality and institutional development.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Valentina Dagiene, an internationally renowned academic and expert in STEM education. In her presentation, she emphasized the critical role of ICT-enabled learning in enhancing teaching effectiveness, fostering innovation, and building sustainable STEM capacity in higher education institutions. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, encouraging active participation from the audience.

The seminar concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, who expressed gratitude to the keynote speaker and participants and underscored the importance of continuous professional development for faculty members. The event concluded successfully with meaningful discussions and a renewed commitment among faculty members and stakeholders to advance quality teaching and ICT-driven learning initiatives in STEM education at AUST.
