Seminar on “Women’s Health in Focus: An In-depth Look at Breast and Cervical Cancer”

In a landmark effort to shed light on two of the most pressing health concerns affecting women worldwide, health officials and community leaders are coming together to address the urgent need for awareness, prevention, and treatment options for breast and cervical cancer. The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) arrange a seminar titled “Women’s Health in Focus: An In-depth Look at Breast and Cervical Cancer,” aims to educate, empower, and encourage women to prioritize their health through proactive measures. The program was held on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 02:00 p.m. to 03:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Theater (DLT), Level-8, Block-C, AUST. All the female faculties, female administrative officers and staffs from departments and offices were present in the seminar.

The chief guest was the Honorable Vice Chancellor of AUST, Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque. The session chair was Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST. The key presenter was Dr. Nazneen Chowdhury, Consultant, National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital (NICRH), Mohakhali, Dhaka.

The program was moderated by Dr. Naznin Sultana Chaity, Additional Director, IQAC, AUST. In opening address Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed shared his view as educational institutions have a unique opportunity to raise awareness and promote preventative health measures. By equipping students, staff, and faculty members with knowledge and resources, schools can foster an environment that supports early detection, encourages healthy practices, and reduces stigma around these crucial health topics.

Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque discussed the importance of women’s health. In his speech he has given importance that empowering women with the knowledge and resources to take control of their health is key to reducing the burden of these cancers on our communities.

Key presenter, Dr. Nazneen Chowdhury gave a presentation on breast and cervical cancer. In her speech Dr. Nazneen gave thanks to AUST for taking such initiatives. She said that this initiative not only underscores the importance of women’s health but also brings to light the challenges many women face in obtaining adequate care. Dr. Nazneen gave a detailed presentation on breast, cervical and all kinds of gynecological cancer. She has elaborated on healthcare system, support, early intervention and detection, tools and resources to make informed health choices.
