Orientation Program of the New Faculty Members

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) successfully organized the Orientation Program for the newly appointed faculty members of Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The program was held at the VC Seminar Room (Level 4), Block-D, AUST.

The program commenced with an engaging ice-breaking session conducted by Dr. Naznin Sultana Chaity, Additional Director, IQAC, AUST, which helped create a welcoming and interactive environment among the participants.

Following the ice-breaking session, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST, delivered the welcome speech and provided an overview of IQAC, highlighting its role in maintaining and enhancing academic quality, institutional standards, and continuous improvement initiatives at AUST.

Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, Pro Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) and Treasurer, AUST, delivered an informative session on the overall financial rules and regulations of AUST, offering valuable insights into financial governance, accountability, and administrative procedures of the university.

Prof. Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Registrar (In-charge) and Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, AUST, elaborated on the service rules, administrative framework, and departmental activities, emphasizing faculty responsibilities and institutional policies.

The session on research culture at AUST was presented by Dr. Dewan Hasan Ahmed, Director, Research and Publication Office (RPO) and Professor, Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering, AUST, where he discussed research opportunities, policies, and the importance of fostering a strong research-oriented academic environment.

Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Matin, Professor and Dean, Department of Civil Engineering, AUST, delivered an insightful talk on professional ethics and classroom management, focusing on academic integrity, effective teaching practices, and faculty conduct.

This was followed by a session on collegiality in the workplace by Prof. Dr. Farida Nilufar, Professor and Dean, Department of Architecture, AUST, who emphasized teamwork, mutual respect, and a positive professional environment within the university.

A special session titled “Strengthening Education through Research and Teaching–Learning Practice” was delivered by Dr. M. Kaykobad, Distinguished Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BRAC University, Dhaka, who shared his extensive academic experience and offered valuable perspectives on integrating research with effective teaching practices.

Prof. Dr. Golam Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, shared the life philosophy of Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, highlighting his ideals, lifestyle, and humanitarian contributions, which continue to inspire the mission and values of AUST.

The program concluded with an inspiring address by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque, who emphasized the importance of faculty aptitude, ownership toward the institution, and continuous professional development for achieving academic excellence.

Finally, the program was wrapped up with a vote of thanks delivered by the Director, IQAC, marking the successful conclusion of the orientation program.
