Seminar on “Implementation of BAETE Manual Version 3.0 for Engineering Programs and Use of AI in Writing Research Article”
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a seminar on “Implementation of BAETE Manual Version 3.0 for Engineering Program and Use of AI in Writing Research Article”. The program was held on Thursday, November 06, 2025 from 01:30 p.m. to 03:30 p.m. in the VC seminar room, Level:4, Block-D, AUST.
The event was structured into two significant segments. The first segment focused on the Implementation of BAETE Manual Version 3.0 for Engineering Programs, emphasizing its importance in advancing academic quality and aligning engineering education with contemporary accreditation standards. The second segment reflected a progressive vision to enhance the research writing capacity of faculty members, encouraging them to adopt innovative strategies in academic publishing, particularly through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other cutting-edge technologies.

We were deeply honored to have among us Dr. S. M. Khalilur Rahman, Ex-General Secretary of Dhaka Ahsania Mission and a respected Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of AUST, as the Chief Guest of the program. The session was graciously chaired by our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque, whose leadership continues to inspire academic excellence across the university. The key presentation of the day was delivered by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), AUST. The seminar was also attended by members of the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) and all faculty members of the School of Business, whose presence added great value to the session.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address from Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST. In his remarks and presentation, he highlighted the implementation of BAETE Manual Version 3.0 for the engineering programs at AUST. He explained that this new version marks a significant step forward in the pursuit of academic excellence and quality assurance within the field of engineering education in Bangladesh. He elaborated that the revised version of BAETE manual emphasizes Outcome-Based Education (OBE), continuous quality improvement, and international benchmarking which are essential for producing competent, innovative, and globally competitive graduates. Moreover, he urged all faculty members to take an active role in adopting and implementing the revised framework in their teaching, learning, and assessment activities. He emphasized the need for collaboration among departments, continuous professional development, and data-driven decision-making to maintain AUST’s commitment to academic excellence and accreditation readiness.

The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque emphasized on implementation BAETE Manual Version 3.0 for engineering programs of the AUST and discussed the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in reshaping academic and research practices. He encouraged faculty members to embrace AI-driven tools to improve research efficiency, enhance data analysis, and elevate the overall quality of scholarly writing. His address was a call to integrate technology with intellectual curiosity for the advancement of academic excellence. At the end, he requested FAQC of engineering faculty consider necessary measures to update OBE curriculum for program outcomes and implement BAETE Manual V3.0 for future accreditation from BAETE.

The Chief Guest, Dr. S. M. Khalilur Rahman, in his speech, applauded the initiative of IQAC for organizing such a timely and forward-looking seminar. He stressed the importance of adopting innovative technologies and research methodologies to remain relevant in today’s rapidly changing academic landscape. He further pointed out that embracing digital transformation in teaching, learning, and research will enable universities like AUST to maintain academic leadership and contribute effectively to national and global progress.

The key presentation was then delivered by Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, who provided a comprehensive and practical discussion on the use of Artificial Intelligence in writing research articles. He demonstrated how AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT, LaTeX, Overleaf, and other digital tools can assist researchers in improving the structure, clarity, and impact of their scholarly work. His session was both engaging and informative, offering participants hands-on insights into how modern technology can enhance academic productivity and publication quality.

Following the presentation, an open discussion was held, where participants actively exchanged their views, shared experiences, and raised questions about the ethical use of AI and the evolving landscape of research writing. The discussion reflected the enthusiasm and intellectual engagement of AUST’s academic community.
Finally, the program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST.
