Seminar on “Critical Thinking & Research Culture”
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a seminar on “Critical Thinking & Research Culture” on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. at the VC Seminar Room, Level 4, Block-D. The event was specially designed for newly appointed Lecturer (G-II) faculty members and students, aiming to cultivate foundational competencies in analytical reasoning and scholarly inquiry.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director of IQAC, who underscored the necessity of embedding critical thinking and a robust research ethos within the academic environment. Following the introduction, Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque delivered an insightful discourse emphasizing the indispensable role of critical thinking in both teaching and learning. His remarks contextualized the concept within the evolving demands of higher education and the responsibilities of early-career academics.
The keynote session was led by renowned educator Prof. Mohammad Kaykobad, who shared deep reflections on the interdependence between critical thinking and research culture. Drawing from his extensive academic journey, he illustrated how pedagogical practices rooted in inquiry, reflection, and innovation can shape meaningful research trajectories and empower students to become independent thinkers. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, expressing appreciation to the distinguished speakers and participants.
