Workshop on “Marking rubrics (FYDP and /or Theory/Lab)”
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) jointly organized a workshop on “Marking rubrics (FYDP and /or Theory/Lab)” for the upcoming SAR preparation. All faculty members of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Heads of Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE) and Textile Engineering (TE) departments, and PSAC members of MPE and TE departments have participated in the workshop. The program was held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the VC seminar room, Level:4, Block-D, AUST.
The Chief guest was Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque of AUST. Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman of AUST was present as a special guest and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Director, IQAC, AUST was the session chair of the program. The program was promised to provide valuable insights from the esteemed speakers. Prof. Dr. Swakkhar Shatabda, a member of the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) of BAETE from BRAC University was the key presenter, whose expertise in this field will no doubt be enlightening. The program was started with a warm welcome speech given by Prof. Dr. Bobby Barua, Head, Dept of EEE, AUST. Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Additional Director, IQAC, conducted the program.
Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque, Honorable Vice-Chancellor talked about the importance of the OBE accreditation process for engineering departments/programs. He welcomed the keynote speaker prof. Shatabda. Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman gave valuable advice about graduate attributes, and the accreditation process of BATE and congratulated BAETE for obtaining the full signatory power in June 2024.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed discussed on rubrics, BAETE accreditation due on SAR preparation of EEE, MPE and TE departments. He also congratulates BAETE for getting full signatory of Washington Accord.
Professor Dr. Swakkhar Shatabda gave a presentation on marking rubrics (FYDP and /or Theory/Lab). The workshop is conducted for CEP or Activity and identifies and selects direct and
indirect methods for CO/PO/PEO assessment. It also talked about design rubrics for the assessment of CO/PO/PEO and curriculum review. The detail of the assessment is presented and discussed in the workshop.
The presenter showed a flow of CQI process: i) Direct assessment methods in courses, ii) Indirect assessment methods through surveys/feedback. Indirect methods of assessment are based on (opinions or self-reports) from different stakeholders. Board of Accreditation for Engineering & Technical Education (BAETE) advised to assessment through surveys like CO assessment end of the course, students participate in surveys might need to update the course evaluation questionnaire. PO assessment Exit survey for all graduating students Questions to address all Pos. PEO assessment Survey for both stakeholders: graduates and employers. Question should address all PEO statements Graduates should had completed degrees in 5 years. This program ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Bobby Barua Head, Dept. of EEE, AUST.
